My nit picking.

In case the author is interested, what you do with hay is pitch it, not shovel it. You use a pitch fork, not a shovel. And baling it is not when you pitch it to the livestock. That is when you use a great big machine to put it into round or rectangular, hard-packed bales. Also, when you put something down in the house, it is on the floor, not the ground. Ground is for outside, preferably when talking about dirt, not paving.

Another fun and frisky read! Loving the continuing story of Jess and William. Loving the growing story of Lump and Adam. Ms Breene keeps he story going in a steady sure path. Plenty of good humor, realism (yes Texas men really are that protective of women), and th culture shocks for people unused to ranch life, and Texas. We are a whole new country after all! Looking forward to the next book!

This is the second book in the trilology and I loved it. I just hope that the third book ends the way I would like it to. This book gets even better when her freinds show up it is a crazy party. this is one of those books that you just do not want to stop reading because it is so good. This is one of thos books that hooks you and does not let go even at the end. The story about Jessica and William is one of those that we all hope we find; real true love. Wonderful book I highly reccomend it.

Awesome book... but too many spelling errors.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tale and have started reading the second in this trilogy. The book was very well written and had a decent flow at the beginning which transformed into an excellent flow in it's conclusion. The author did a good job in making you care about the main characters' conflicts and left you wanting to read onward. The last 8 or so chapters really made this book shine. I whole-heartedly recommend this book. The only draw back was the spelling errors. You would think that someone who could use "quintessential" in coherent sentences would be able to spell "unphased" and "reigning" correctly. Not to mention the other smaller errors such as words being put in past-tense/plural-form incorrectly or the lack of past-tense/pluralization. Those tiny errors are understandable in the rough draft but how did those slip by editing? Who allowed this to be published with those? Never-the-less, a superb read.

One of the best Magic novels...

As far as Magic novels go, I think this is one of the best. I just started, and I already find myself engrossed. Ixidor, by far, is the most interesting character and very easy to get drawn into. Kamahl is...strange. However, he seems to have a purpose. The pit fights are well described, along with every other aspect so far. I hope to see something of Silvos, Rorix, Visara, Arcanis and Jareth! If not, oh well. Braids is interesting, especially because I have her card.

If you liked J. Robert King's Invasion Cycle, this is about status quo. Lots of annoying fourth wall breaking, lots of INCREDIBLY melodramatic prose that doesn't fit the setting, lots of choreographed violence. It's not as bad as the books that follow it, but it's not going to be winning any Locus or Nebula awards any time soon. This is the best of the Onslaught Cycle, but that's not really saying much. If you want thoughtless fight scenes and escapism that doesn't require a lot of thought, go with this book. If you need something a little more solid or thought-provoking, seek ye elsewhere.

For those who dare, a fantastic read lurks within

When an author includes a warning that their book might be too strongly sexual, too strongly offensive, that makes me want to find out more about it. And when the author is already a favorite of mine, that means an instant 1-click and read.

These stories from Carolyn Jewel are short, some almost too short, but they are all, without question, so damn good. The most outrageous story is probably the first one (Inigo the Magician) and if you can make it through that tale unscathed, then you are in for a satisfying dark ride all the way to the very end. I've always enjoyed how Carolyn Jewel can turn an otherwise innocuous scene into one seething with sexual desire. But these particular stories show that when her true writing id is completely unleashed, there's no stopping her from going as far as any other writer might dare...and beyond. I only hope there are more of these dark tales hiding somewhere in her bottom desk drawer, just waiting to be sprung on an unsuspecting (and for those of us who enjoy such things - grateful) public.

Dark, beautiful, thought-provoking

Whispers No. 1 is a collection of five short stories. They are dark, bittersweet and decadent like bites of really specialized gourmet chocolate. The writing is beautiful and thoughtful. Some of the stories may be uncomfortable to some readers, all of them tend to haunt you after reading.

Like any collection of stories, this was a mixed bag. I liked some better than others.

"Ingo the Magician"

An evil magician controls a demon and then gets his just-desserts when his two victims join forces. This one was my favorite -- because the short story is visceral -- you can feel the danger in the atmosphere, the need for revenge, the tenderness and fragility that is also part of the characters, the strange bond between the two main characters. And the description of the demon was excellent.

"Demon Lover"

A twenty-seven year old woman is sheltered from people and life until she catches the eye of a powerful man, which of course leads to her seduction. This was the tamest of the lot and the plot is one that is pretty common. The writing was yet again lush and seductive.

"My Goblin Boyfriend"

The heroine gets herself a Goblin lover. I loved the humor that appears in the first part of the story and would love to see this one expanded into a more complete plot and story. It left me intrigued...I want MORE!

"Constance"

Constance Ashley's depraved father controls her. One man loves her & gets another man to seduce her, so she is ruined and available. I found this one the hardest to read because the heroine's past includes an issue that I feel very strongly about, and throughout the story -- from her father to the man she finally marries -- she's manipulated.

"The Wild"

This was an interesting take on werewolf lovers without much of the sugarcoating you generally see in most PNR stories featuring werewolves. I wish I could get to know the heroine more -- to feel concerned for her, understand where she's coming from (instead of being told by a narrator I don't quite trust). Again, I think if this story was expanded, the characters rounded out and made more accessible to readers, I think this could be an amazing story...sort of a literary PNR in the vein of Sharon Shinn's Shifting Circle series.

This was the story that really crossed some sexual boundaries (beast form sex, foreign object, restraints and pain). So heed the author's warning before reading!

Not Exactly Dark Erotica

Five short stories in 98 pages. Too short really to give a rating for most of them. (If you pin me down, a 3 star rating may seem appropriate for what you get knowing complete stories aren't included. These shorts are like snapshots. Kerplunk!)

My Impression - Not dark erotica! It wasn't really erotic. There's lots of unusual sex. I think a couple of the books could translate into monster porn images.

"Ingo the Magician"
An evil magician controls a demon with devastating results for one couple. Too short a tale for me to connect with characters, especially the heroine. Rape, BDSM

"Demon Lover"
A twenty-seven year old woman is sheltered from people and life until she catches the eye of a powerful man. MY FAVORITE! I wanted more! David Nathaniel, the "depraved and wicked" man, draws women into his web like butterflies. The heroine lives for the moment. She draws him out. Want. More!

"My Goblin Boyfriend"
The heroine has a thing for big men. Goblins make the best lovers. It's a 'bumpy' ride. Sparse story.

"Constance"
Constance Ashley's depraved father controls her. One man loves her. Another man seduces her. It was a disturbing story to read. No matter Contance's choices she remained a victim in my eyes.

"The Wild"
A BDSD story heavy on the S&M with use of foreign object. Beast-form sex that some may find disturbing. Not my cuppa.

Final Thoughts - "Demon Lover" is my favorite of the bunch. "Constance" disturbed me, not with its sex, but what felt like the victimization of the heroine. Heads up to the squeamish! You may want to avoid "Wild."

Wish I had read this before my accountant gave me his "expert" advice....

Brilliant work. I had no idea my IRA could do those things. Great primer for self-directed IRAs

This attorney/author really knows his stuff. I love my accountant, but after having read this, I think it

may be time for a new one.....I guess since I make more money than he does, he really didn't go out of his

way to help me 'do it right' from the beginning. A great eye opener. Sometimes you just have to take the time

to educate yourself. I have no one to blame but myself... Anyway....A must read at any net worth level.

Book is worth it's weight in gold, just have to sit your self down with some Starbucks and start thinking outside the box.

Loved this book!!

This is a fantastic book! You cannot beat this price for the amount of information received. As an investor, I have been interested in learning about investing through an IRA and this book clearly explains the pros and cons for me. I learned so much from one book!

I have read other books by Mr. Bronchick and they have helped me make serious returns on my investments. With his advice, my latest real estate sale made me over $150k. I highly recommend this book, in addition to his various books on real estate investing and flipping. His direct, no BS approach is easy to understand. Great read!!

Great book for ELL educators

Used this book for a master level course I was taking to complete ESL teaching certification. It provides a valuable strategies that can be used in the classroom when teaching ELLs. I will continue to use this book as a reference within my classroom. I love the summary at the end of each chapter which brought back together all pertinent info from the chapter.

Though strategies take time to perfect, the work is done if we practice what is needed to provide a quality education for each child.
